The Pedal Car
« on: October 30, 2008, 05:48:01 PM »
As some of you know, I built a pedal car over my free time (not that I had much) over the last two summers.  This December it will be losing its home in the backyard of a friend of mine, so I have two options: find somewhere else to keep it, or sell it.  I'm open to any suggestions people have right now, because I really don't know what's going to happen.  Even working out a deal to give it to the cycling club in some way would be better than leaving it somewhere to get trashed.  The whole thing probably cost around $300 to build.  It holds two people comfortably and a second crankset can be added to give the passenger the ability to help pedal.

If anyone wants to take a ride to get a feel for it, that can be arranged too (and I'd like to get out and ride around more before it snows).

In fact, if the CC is interested, you may be able to use it for advertising, or rent it to people for some cash, or something beneficial to the club.  I imagine if we put another drivetrain on it before it gets too cold, it might be interesting in the snow.

Photos will be back up when I get in to fix my server.

This pedal car is now up for sale on the UNDerground.  I'm out of money and it needs to get out of the yard before my friends move.

I say we modify it with some pugsley parts and ride that thing all winter... who's in?  How many HP?  How much torque?  Can I haul a boat with it?  Is it possible to mount a ball hitch?

Here are some photos:  http://134.129.143.110/?q=node/5

I plan on taking the pedal car out this week sometime; if anyone wants to help out with adding a pedal system to the right side, let me know.

The plan is to get it as useful as possible, to drive it around a bunch, and maybe find someone to buy it so I don't have to track down a place to put it when I move at the beginning of June.

Plans for the next version of the pedal car (or other bicycle-building projects) will also be entertained.

I'd be pretty down with that, actually.  I should probably be doing something else the next few days.
