SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE RIDES!!! EVERY SUNDAY AT 10AM, MEET BEHIND SBS

Yo kids, if you wanna get your ride and your drink on (coffee that is) hit up our Sunday morning coffee rides, they leave from behind the Ski and Bike Shop at 10AM every Sunday morning, rain or shine, cold or really cold. Don't know where Ski and Bike is? Have you been living under a rock or something? the shop is at 1711 S. Washington St. right between blockbuster and the dollar store. This is a moderate paced social ride with a no drop policy. Rides will be around 3 to 5 miles (not counting your ride to the shop) Until the weather gets nicer. Fat tires and low gears are recommended for snowy conditions. The ride will end at Dakota Harvest Bakery so be sure to bring a lock if you plan on heading in for coffee and confections. The ride is self supported, so bring what you think you need to fix your bike if it breaks. If you roll on 700c's I might have a tube that you can borrow, otherwise you're outta luck. See you there.
Just try and step to UND Cycling if you wanna test your luck.

The morning ride was excellent. Those who couldn't make it... you missed a classic guardrail laying the fixed gear down in front of a pickup truck. Nice work front TIRE!

All details are TBD but should be:

Location: Memorial Union.
Time: 5:30pm Mondays.
Ride: As decided. No shorter than 20 miles.
Bike rec: Road.

This ride is to be utilized by the team as a recovery ride so the pace/mood will be casual, cheery and conversational. All are welcome.

As always. Helmets are required.

As of right now the Sunday morning coffee ride will be happening.

Who: All riders this is a FUN ride.
What: All bikes. (Most of us will probably be on our commuters)
Where: Behind SBS
When: As of right now 10am (does anyone have a time preference? This week MAY be able to be flexible because "technically" none of us have to work cuz we all should be in KS)
Why: Why the heck not?

Questions... ask. Suggestions for times? Post up.

Sunday Morning Ride 4/13
« Reply #21 on: April 12, 2008, 11:22:45 PM »
Yo, everybody needs to make it out to the ride this Sunday morning. As always we will be meeting behind Ski and Bike at 10AM. If you're not there, then there must be something wrong with you. For serious dudes, we're not racing, so lets at least go wreak some bicycle havoc around Grand Forks. I expect excuses to be posted if you're not going to show up, and they better be good.

What: Fun Ride downtown.
Where: Behind Ski Bike Shop. Riding to (most likely) Dakota Harvest.
When: 10am.
Why: As Toaster has stated... if you aren't making this ride, something is wrong with you.

This week isn't looking especially great for wx.

As for the group ride this evening Monday (4/21). There is a cold front pushing through. Expect some good T-storms early afternoon. Followed by temps into the low 30's.

I'll keep you updated on the wx. If its crappy outside... I won't be riding (no need to)... if others are going to go and want to carry the group ride, feel free to post up.

Every rider is invited on every ride. This is the foundation of a club and a team co-existing. Everything in the group ride forum is designed to offer ride info.

Chad just forgot to post utilizing the format. Since we're on page 3... I'll refresh peoples memory.

Regarding tomorrow's ride:

Tomorrow, 4/22 Tuesday, @ 5:15pm
From the Union, longer ride, 35-45 miles, depending on time available, to be established on the spot
No drop, training ride, everybody welcome
Road bike recomended

See you all there!

Today, Thursday 04/24 @5:15pm, at the Union

Easy ride, around 25 miles

Bikes recommended: road

NO drop ride, everybody welcome

If the weather is nasty-don't come

Hope to see you all there!

The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

What he means is: If the weather is nasty, don't come because no one will be there. Define nasty though?

It's just going to be windy and cold and REALLY cold. I think you'll be free of precipitation though.

Precipitation is what I consider nasty, I know it's cold, but we've ridden in colder weather.

Anyone up for group Turtle River trail rides?  I'm thinking weekly trips (probably Sunday late afternoons or early evenings).  I have enough room on my rack for two other bikes otherwise you'd need your own transportation.

Just a reminder:

"Mondays are officially the No-Drop group rides from here on out.

All details are TBD but should be:

Location: Memorial Union.
Time: 5:30pm Mondays.
Ride: As decided. No shorter than 20 miles.
Bike rec: Road.

This ride is to be utilized by the team as a recovery ride so the pace/mood will be casual, cheery and conversational. All are welcome.

As always. Helmets are required."

Not sure if I'll make the group ride today, need to check my schedule at the shop. I'll be there if I can

Totally down for rides at TR. Although I think that traditionally the guys from SBS ride on Saturday evenings. I know that last year there was a bit of dissatisfaction when we tried to organize Sunday evening TR rides instead of Saturday. You might want to check with the guys at SBS about what they will be doing for their TR rides this year (I haven't really heard much talk around the shop as of yet). Keep us informed though, I can't wait to hit the trails!

Yeah squad... lets not play the change of plans game 2 hours before we leave. Some people plan for this ride all day long and it gets really frustrating when a ride that has been going out consistently on a monday and has been planned gets changed.

The "official" no drop ride will be in effect. If other peeps want to do other things thats totally fine, but I just didn't want people to think the plans have changed.

No drop
Leaving from the union at 5:30
Road bikes
helmets
etc

Dakota... we'll see you there (now u said u were going so u have to hahaha)  :P

For anyone coming to the meeting tomorrow night (at the Union, Memorial Room, 7-8pm.)  be sure to bring your bikes!  We'll be hitting up an evening fun ride around GF after the meeting.  Maybe some parking ramps, skate parks... we'll see where we end up.

Baderade... we do in fact roll lots of group rides.

Those are the only "official" scheduled ones so that people have something to expect. Now that the collegiate season is over, things will start to pick up and rides will go out more frequently.

If you're going for a ride and want some company... post one up. There is no "schedule" this is a free forum for people to post when and where they're going as they see fit. We simply try to provide structure.

I'll more than likely be coming to the TR ride. however I might be a bit late because I have to work at SBS until 5:30. If anybody needs to get out there a bit later and needs a ride, I could maybe accommodate one more person in my car, but I don't have a rack or anything so it might be tight.

Yes, helmets are a necessity at TR. Although you are free to do as you wish, the first time I went to TR I wondered if I should bring a helmet or not, I did thinking it was better to be safe than sorry. I was extremely happy that I brought one, as there were a few instances where I nearly bashed my head into a tree. I'm sure that somebody can lend you one, the only extra helmet that I have is my old BMX helmet, so I'll toss that in my car in case you need it. If somebody else has a helmet that they would be willing to volunteer, let us know.

Welcome to the boards sanders!

There is going to be  weakly time trail at Merrifield. It is going to take place every Wednesday at 6:30 and it is organized by the GF Tri club. Sometimes there is just couple people, sometimes there is ten and more.If you want to have some fun riding TT come and check it out.Officially it will start next week but I might be there tomorrow.Hope to se you there!

So again:
When: Every Wednesday at 6:30pm
Where: Merrifield
What : Time Trail

PS

To get to the Merrifield you go South on Columbia, past Wall-mart, and take a right at the big  intersection towards Merrifield.Continue going West. Right after you pass the railroad crossing there is going to be an orange line on the road-this is where the TT starts. It goes 5 miles more West.Every mile is marked. There is also 4.9 miles mark right before turn around point(which is also marked with arrow and big orange dot in the middle of the road).I repainted everything just yesterday.Fun stuff!!

The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

How about 8 on saturday morning?

Does anyone still ride the TT when there's wind like this (30+mph?)

Hey Fish! I will be up for Saturday morning ride.I just think that at 8 it might be still pretty cold in GF.If you are willing to wait till 9 or 10 it would be good.If not, I will go at 8 anyway:-) I have enough warm cloths.

Regarding TT, I will still show up even if the wind is strong. The only time I will not show up is when it's raining.I cannot speak for others though.
The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Mountain bike trip...

Anyone up for a weekend trip to MN to do some mt biking, beverage consumption, and camping?  I'm thinking maybe Lutsen, maybe Afton Alps... unless others have ideas.  Probably one of the first weekends in July?  Let's get this going!

Urban, as in hucking off of stuff right? I think beak might have thought more like an around town ride. Not that it wouldn't be fun to tag along. I guess I just wasn't sure weather or not beak is into jumping off of stuff, or crashing into said stuff.

TWO rides.  Contain yourselves (all two of you that might show up).

1) Sounds like a hub ride Wednesday night (9:00 pm).  If you're interested, show up at the back of the shop.  last time we had people on fixies AND mt bikes.  It was fun stuff.

2) Urban ride Friday night at 7 pm meet at the market square downtown... this should be clarified as "urban assault"... hucking off stuff, falling, crashing, not any of the mentioned, whatever you please.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to this one. I have a meeting at 7 and I promised to hang out with the lady afterward. That means the rest of ya's are going to have to pick up the slack so that mark has somebody to ride with. Mario, I know you like to go fast, so go tear it up.

Yo allies in pedaling, not to take away from the Sunday evening rides out at TR, but there is going to be a unicycle rally this evening at the ralph at 6:00. You do not have to have any unicycle experience in order to attend. There will be plenty on uni's for people to try out, and there will be riders of all skill levels attending (I myself pretty much suck at riding uni, but after all crashing is fun right?). Hope to see some of you there!

Anybody interested in doing a hub ride tonight? It's been a couple of weeks since the last one, so I thought that people might be ready to exercise some demons. 9pm behind the shop for interested parties.

Anybody up for a ride tomorrow morning? We could do a road ride, or we could go ride the 4-wheeler trails down by the river. I was thinking of meeting up around 8:30 or 9am. Let me know what you guys think.
