SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Jennifer Warkenthien’s 23 points and 11 rebounds led South Dakota State past Oakland University 79-69 Tuesday for the Summit League championship.

The 17th ranked SDSU Jackrabbits (31-2) advanced in their first year of Division I eligibility after trailing by as much as 14 points in the first half. An 11-0 scoring run late in the second half and 10 of 12 free throw shooting in the final 4:13 put South Dakota State on the road to its 17th straight win.

Kristen Rotert added 15 points – a dozen in the second half for SDSU, the regular season Summit League champion and the tournament’s No. 1 seed.

Jessica Pike led No. 2 seed Oakland (26-6) with 22 points. Melissa Jeltema added 12 points and 8 rebounds.
