« on: August 24, 2009, 02:09:33 PM »
Hello riders. This is the post for all the group rides for Fall 2009. Check it daily for group rides posts, starting tomorrow, Tu August 25.

ADDITION:
We will be running group rides on weekdays from Memorial Union at 5:15 every day.  Mon-Thu on the road, Fri around town.  Helmets always required.
Weekend rides or rides at other times during the week can still be scheduled here.  Come out and learn some m@d skllz.

The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

This whole summer pretty much felt like fall, so maybe this thread will have to be renamed Winter 2009?    :shitstorm:

I may be a few minutes late to the 5:30 ride today--I think the weather may be okay?

Easy group ride at 5:30 about 2 hours. Leaving from the Union. Everybody is welcome.

Just a heads up, I have a client from 5-6 so I might be 10 min on the late side, but I mean, if people are getting restless, feel free to head out.  If that's the case, DaverC, you should text me the route you're taking and I can try and catch up.

For TR tomorrow: Meet in the parking lot at the Union at approx. 5:15 pm, we'll try to leave for TR by 5:30. If you plan on coming, please reply to this post so that we can get an idea of who will need to drive and whatnot. Also if you plan on driving your car, you will need to have a vehicle pass for the state park. There are one day passes available for purchase at the park (don't remember how much they cost though). As always, bring your helmets. I'll try to remember my BMX helmet for a person who might need one (if anybody else has extra helmets, bring them).

Also for anybody interested, there is a Sunday morning road ride that leaves from behind the Ski and Bike shop at 9AM.
Just try and step to UND Cycling if you wanna test your luck.

For those of you that made the meeting last night (and for those that didn't)... Due to the odd way that our (the teammates) schedules are fitting together we will NOT have a hard schedule for this week. Don't despair however... this is typical.

If someone is going for a ride like Logan and Dave just above this post, simply post what time you're anticipating leaving. If people can make it, try and post in here so that whoever posted knows who they're waiting/looking for.

Hey. My name is Terry O'Dell and Im a freshman this year and I was a frequent rider at home in Wisconsin. I was hoping to keep going with biking and join this group. However I do not have a bike right now and I am in the process of getting one to use. If I can would be possible for me to still join some rides with you guys.
Thanks, Terry.

welcome on the message board Terry. As long as you have any bike you can join us for the rides. For an easy, no drop ride it does not have to be a road bike. However, for a little bit faster group rides, which would be announced, the road bike is almost required.
The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Yes, I do! I have 1.5 hours ride today at a little bit harder pace. Lets meet at 3 in front of the Union.
The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Hey guys, sorry for the no shows recently but I tend not to check this board ever and therefore don't know when rides are going out.  Is there a schedule you typically keep (like every week on Monday a ride at 3 etc)?? Or is it all ad hoc?

Road ride at 6 pm today, leaving from the union, helmets required.

OaR, if you want to go out and ride with people, just post up the time you are leaving and people will most likely show up.  We've been slacking a little this semester.

pretty much all ad hoc- get used to the message board, or you can be like me, find someone you like who likes the board and ask them all the time :)

sorry guys- no tiffybear this week- I'll catch up with you all next week (it feels like finals week :( )

I'd suggest a no-drop at 5:30.

I will go for an easy ride today, at 5, just to ride low-&-slow on the bike path for an hour. Helmets are still required, meeting at the union.

PS
Remember that there is a meeting tonight as well, so if you can commit only an hour to 'cycling' today, we would rather see you at the meeting.

The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

If more than 4 people show up my suggestion might be to ride low&slow but not on the bike path. Bike path's hate cyclists.

Sorry bro's, I was scheduled for some personal training today from 4:30-5:30, so I more than likely won't be able to make the ride.  I suppose Dave or someone could text/call me with the route and I can try to make up the time on my own, though.

I think I'm gonna go with 2:30 @ the union. Bring food water and a tube etc.

Issues... post up here.

I cannot make it tonight. I have a review session for a big, Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.

There is a scheduled fun ride for tonight, however due to the Adventure race I suspect attendance will be pretty low. If anyone is still planning on riding tonight, post up here.

Yeah, it is blowing today like no other. There is a wind advisory for ND. I don't know if we want to go and ride in this wind. On the other hand, tomorrow suppose to rain and blow as well. Let's stay tuned.

Squad... I know its cold out and people are hiding inside... but TRUST ME! Take advantage of the "good" weather while we can.

I won't be able to do a road ride today per se... but to anyone who missed out on the Alleycat, I'm going to be heading out (from the onion (Union)) to basically ride the course and take down all of the posters that are up. Me and Beek pre-rode the course and it took about an hour and 40 mins. I don't expect it to take that long... but its a decent ride.

In short: "Fun ride" (I'll be on my fixed gear). Leaving the Union at 5:15. About 1.5hrs.

I don't think I will be able to make a ride today. i actually propose to cancel the rides for this week since we are doing the sponsorship drive and that takes some time form the daily schedule-just a suggestion.

No need to cancel. If people are still feeling like a ride, they can use this post to meet up. Moreso, lets let people know (this is me letting them know) the REASON that we have been very low key lately, is that this week and to a lesser extent next, will be our sponsorship drive. That is to say that every team member is extremely busy.

Hold it down for us UNDCC... hold it down.

I think I'm going to try and ride this afternoon. It's going to be cold, so if you decide to show up bring jacket, gloves, long pants, hat, thick socks(your feet will get really cold otherwise ). I'm serious about  all this. You will get colder faster than you think when you ride bike!. 5:15 at the union. If you show up without appropriate gear you, will be sent home. If something changes,  I will post here.

If it is not raining/snowing at 5:15 I will be going for an hour of easy riding, most likely on the bike path. If you plan to show up, post here. Otherwise I will leave form my house.

5:15 easy one hour ride. Helmets and warm clothing mandatory! Don't underestimate cold temps!

Not to rain on your parade... but bring something waterproof as I'm expecting precip to start between 3 and 5.

Its currently precipitating at higher altitudes, but not making it to the ground around GFK... according to my information.

Boys and Girls. I'm gong for an easy loooooong ride tomorrow morning at 9:00am. If you want to come along, please let me know. The temps should be in mid 50's for high, but in the morning will be colder. You HAVE to bring warm clothing with you: gloves, long pants, wind breaker, wool socks, etc. If you need a piece of clothing, let me know, I most likely have it and can let you use it (except for socks and underwear). Leaving form the Union.
The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Ted didn't go.

TODAY at 4:15 (official time now) I expect to do a road ride from the Union.  Be prepared for chilliness and bring lights if you have them.

The sun is going down around 6:30 now and that doesn't leave quite enough time for even Merrifield if we go later.

Weather pending i will be going for a road ride today as well. 1.5 hours, easy. 5:15 at the Union. Helmets and warm clothing required.

Easy ride today, about 1-1.5hours, at 4:45, leaving from the Union. Propose different time if 4:45 does not work for you. Helmets and cold weather gear required.

P.S. to anybody who comes CXing, take your bottle cages, frame pumps, frame bags, other accessories (that go in the front triangle of your frame) off in order to facilitate the shouldering of your bike (for run up's, barriers, mud pits, and whatever else).

You may also want to pad your right shoulder in some way so that it doesn't get bruised.

I think I'm going to ride the CX bike down to the river and cruise around on the path/4wheeler trails around 2 or 2:30, pretty laid back style, just about any bike would be fine. Post up if you wanna roll down there.

Road ride today. I will be leaving around 3:30 and be back on campus around 4:10-15. If you want to join me/us for a ride, please post here.If you post we will meet you at the Union, if not, we will not be there. Helmets and tubes are required. Dress warm, don't let the sun fool you. It is only 40 degrees!

Looks like another beautiful day. I'm not going to waist it, so I'm going for a 2 hour easy ride today. Starting at 3:15 at the Union. We have to be back before meeting. Again, if I will not see any post over here I will leave form my house. tubes, helmets and warm clothing required. They predict sunny, mid 40's and 12-14 mph SSE wind.

If you want to join me for any period of time, make a post here before 9 am tomorrow so I can plan my trip (lets assume to meet at the union). I will turn around when need to if people want to ride. I will be spinning. i have about two hours with very high cadence intervals. The thing is that I don't really feel like taking my bike apart to bring it in and than take it back. I think I'm going to stay at home especial that this week I'm very much short on time. We have nightlife this Friday, though.

The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

mario til is considered correct in this case because it is a shorthand slang form of the word "until" whereas 'till' is a verb used to describe a type of work in a farm field. Your intentions were good, the english language is bad.

Well, it's not Fall anymore, but whatever. I will be going for one hour MTB ride tomorrow (Monday) at 4:00pm. I'm thinking about doing the 32nd loop. If I will not see any response, I will leave from my house. Otherwise I can meet you at the Union. If you don't have a MTB (or cross bike), let me know. I have one extra (first come first serve). If you need some extra riding clothing, let me know.

I think I'm going to ride outside today.  Maybe from 3-5 or so.  If anyone wants to join but can't make it at 3, I think I'm going to go for an hour and then swing by the Union at about 4 to pick anybody up and then go out for another hour or so.

I will be lifting today at 5:30. I'm leaving at this time from my house, run for 15min to warm up, and then I'm doing my routine. You can join me for my routine, or you can do your thing, or you can just hold my hand as I lift.

The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Anybody interested in riding outdoors this evening? I was thinking of going out around 6 or 7pm, but if you want to go and that time doesn't work let me know, I'm pretty flexible today.

edit: P.S. I'm more than likely going to go ride the greenway, about 10-12 miles total (from campus and back) FYI.

Two rides opportunities today:
1) MTB ride for about 1.5-2 hours.Leaving from my place at 3:30 (bring lights if you have them and warm cloths)
2)Trainer ride at 5:30 at my place. Wait for me if I'm not there at 5:00, I will be finishing the MTB ride.

Well, I don't mind him coming. The only problem is that we more less run out of room for storing bikes, and run out of extra trainers. If he is willing to bring his bike and take it back, I'm OK with it. Or maybe Chace will let him ride his bike, but then they have to play with seat height and stuff. Oh, if you want to watch video today, bring your comp.I will be working on mine.

I'm heading outside tomorrow at about 3:00...and Friday at about 3:30...pretty much any day the temperature is above, oh I don't know...15 degrees, I'll probably be going outside.

If anyone's interested in tomorrow's ride, post 'er up or shoot me a text...or call me.  Also, if you'd like to go, but can't make it until a little later, you can let me know that, too.  I don't think I can go any later than about 4pm, though.

The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

I may have class until 5:15 now; it would take me some time to get ready to ride outside so I would rather ride easy inside.  If I get out at 4:55 as has been the case I can probably be ready to ride by 5:30 if I know it's going to happen.

Hey boys. Just as I told Logan this morning I'm going out on a road bike ride for an hour around 5. If you plan to ride outside come to my place around 4:50, not later. You might need to wait for me at the door. Logan, Erik if you need some clothing I probably have it. Beek, I'm assuming your bike is not fixed yet? Or is it? Last time I saw you had clothing to ride outside in a cold.If you decide to stay indoors, it would have to be around 6:30.

I will start riding probably around 3:30 today.
The minimum number of bikes one should own is three.  The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of bikes currently owned.  This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of bikes owned that would result in separation from your partner.

I'm thinking about going around 11:45 to avoid afternoon rain. I just have an hour or so of easy riding today. Who can come with me?Unless the weather holds up, then I will go probably around 4:30. I will have to make decision close to 11. Stay tuned.

Well, I think I will wait till 4:30 for the ride. IF you want to do it at that time, I will meet you at the union at 4:30. If you cannot go at 4:30 post here, because then I will leave from my house.

Also... the rain is pushed back by 2 hours in the forecast. This really just means that its a function of temperature and how fast/slow it changes. The moisture is currently above us (raining)... just not making it to the ground.

Theoretically... if you rode fast enough... and generated enough heat... you could alter the whole thing. Fascinating.

I will be going for a 2-2.5 hour ride today at 5pm. I have my threshold test within that ride, so If you want to stick on my tail for it, you are more than welcome. After the test I just have easy riding. If you rather spin indoors, you have to be in my apartment at around 4:45 so you can get in. Let me know what you want to do.

I honestly guys don't like the idea of spinning after 9:00pm. It;s just too late. There are people leaving under me, and we have been luck enough they didn't say anything. But if start spinning that late, they might get pissed. That's all I'm saying. All it takes is one complain from them to the manager and we are DONE spinning at my place. You can try and come to my place at 4:45 to grab a key and spin before the meeting?

Hey Bobby... we actually had a meeting tonight. There'll be another one coming up soon, but just so you know, you're welcome to come hang out at the meetings too.

I'm sure somebody will be riding tomorrow, but I just wanted to sort of pass on that the group rides section gets a little convoluted right when the weather is changing from bad to good because it's right when our racing season is starting and everyone has scheduled rides and we're trying to move from inside on the trainers to outside on the roads. Bear with us... the rids will get MUCH more consistent once things smooth out a little.

An easy ride today, outside, starting at 4:15 form the union. I know it is cold, but it is better to ride for an hour outside , than 1.5 hours on the rollers. I will try to go for 2 hours, but I don't mind to loop around for people that want quit earlier.Erik you need to show up at my place no later than 4 to get your pedals and clothing on. It should be sunny and low winds, just cold.
