I know that the Union Dining Center is closing on April 28th. Does anyone know if it will be open again by the time we start next fall?

So, according to the swiper lady in the Union, the dining center is "suppose" to re-open next November. She made sure to emphasize the suppose to.

Yeah, that is what she said. But she wasn't very optimistic and it would only be one month early, so I am not holding my breath that it will be done before December 2006.

Man, it's so annoying. I went down there for lunch today and there were no tables ANYWHERE. we ended up eating on a coffee table on the floor. What really got me is that there was a booth open for about 3 seconds and I stepped it up and this one chick, alone, glaced at me and beat me there. I was with one other person. There should be a rule about booths, it should be a "carpool" lane (for any of you who haven't lived in a big city, you can't drive in a carpool lane if you are driving alone, if you get caught you get FINED!). It was about 11am when I went to lunch. I thought it would be done by August... I was thinking optimistically!

That sucks, you should have told her to move over or get out. At least it will be really nice when they are done.

I havent been in the union in awhile, how is the progress going?

Well I finally made it back to the union, I havent been their in a couple of weeks.
The whole bottom floor is torn up, the only part you can get into is the Rec center.
You can look through the door and see the progress in the old lounge area. It didnt look like much had been done on that end, but everything was torn out.
On the main floor the new area by the old lounge is coming along nicely, they already took town some of the tarps... I cant wait until its done!!!! :hello2: :icon_compress:

I saw it the other day and I have to say, I am very impressed. They are making really good progress and I think that it is going to turn out sweet. Might have to stick around for awhile to use it myself.

Just to update, as of today you can go in the lower level of the new part of the union, where the food court will be.
Right now all they have open is Burger Time, Taco Bell is suppose to open on Monday.
It looks really nice down there and it is nice and big, the only thing I thought was that it seemed rather dark down there. I have not heard anything about the rest of the lower level in the union.

Last I checked (Friday) Hoagie Hutt was open but the pizza place wasnt.

I hope the pizza place opens soon. It would be nice to easily get some food, plus the Burger Time line is always too long.

Word is that 2 more restaurants are coming to the Union, they will be International Cuisine and All-American Caf? and Grill.
Im excited, its gonna be sweet to get some international food on campus, I am a big fan of Chinese. ;D

That is sweet. I am excited for the International Cuisine restaurant, it will be nice to get a little more variety. As far as All-American Cafe I hope that it isn't too similar to Burger Time (as far as that type of food goes). I wonder what type of variety they are looking at, maybe they will serve what ever is being served in the dining centers?

I am hoping different types, the bigger the variety the better.

I would bet they will have a variety, otherwise they should call it Chinese Palace or something.

The "food court" is really packed around lunch, hopefully this will help with some of those problems.
