President and Marcia Kelley don't think of the house in which they live as theirs--they think of it as belonging to the whole university. As students, we're all welcome.
Don’t call it the president’s house. Instead, call it the university house.
So say Robert Kelley, UND’s freshman president, and his wife, Marcia.
Don’t take this characterization literally, UND employees. This doesn’t mean you can stop by and see what’s in the pantry for lunch. Nor does it mean you can unroll your sleeping bag and spend the night on the floor in an adult sleepover.

What it means is that the new $1 million residence belongs to the university. So, they consider it the university house. Marcia said a newfound friend in North Dakota explained it to her.
“He said not to think of it as your home,” she said. “He said to think of it as your place of business. He said to think of it as public housing.”
