We've been slacklining in the quad behind the CFL every day at 3, weather permitting. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come and join us. Bring a line if you have one, if not we'll manage to share.

One step=One cookie for slackline noobs

You may have to take a rain check on the cookies though, because I don't bake. Katie Ladydingdong (real last name, no goof) brought in PB cookies today, but there are only 2 left. There will probably be zero left by 3 o'clock. She kept apologizing for burning the bottoms slightly. Don't tell her that burnt bottoms on PB cookies are the bees knees.

Nice day to get outside and set up a couple of lines, little windy but that's ok.
I'll be out in the quad at 3.

Riddle me this rope jockeys... what is the purpose of the slackline in the wild? How does it apply to climbing?

Now that I can't stand (because of climbing), I find balancing on my knees helpful when pulling up my pants, a skill I would be less good at had I not slacklines before.

From my understanding, slack lining in the modern sense was developed by climbers hanging out in Yosemite and other crags.
They were just kicking it, balancing on chains and ropes. People began to realize that it helped build balance along with leg and core strength.

A slack line can be used in place of a tyrollean traverse in the wild.

I believe there are papers out there that describe the therapeutic benefits of slack lining. Speaking on a purely anecdotal level, I believe that it has improved my balance and leg strength by a measurable amount.

Slacklining made my pants fit better.

To me... it seems like the tyrolean traverse would be the way to go. If I were really trying to get across some gap... the only time I would ever consider the slackline would be useful was if there was something close below you... like lava. Tyrolean traverse would fail there... but then again... I can't fathom many scenarios where I'd be trying to cross a lava field where I'd be able to get my slackline across? At least without it being on fire.

Water... I think I'd just swim? But slacklining over a river on a hot day would be super fun. Just sayin.

Agreed, Sandman once told me that he might have a good spot for doing just that.
