Ted and I have been talking about moving the website to Google Sites. Currently the website is designed in iWeb, so it's very difficult for more than one person to update. With Google Sites, anyone with access to the email account could edit the site, we could have a blog associated with it, and all the work wouldn't fall to one person. This would also mean not storing the files on the UND server, but we can build in a redirect from our current URL to the new site.
Thoughts? If there is no opposition, either I or someone else can start work on this.

The other alternative is to use a full-fledged CMS (content management system) on a hosted server somewhere. The point of this would be to separate content from design, so people can add content without worrying about screwing up what the site actually looks like. www.campusdakota.com, www.northernplainsathletics.com, and www.groundupadventures.com are all built on a CMS called Drupal.
Now that I think about it, this is probably more than the club needs, honestly, because we would need someone to be on top of maintaining the site on the server side of things. Anyway, I thought I would mention it.
Any incipient web designers out there?

Haven't used google sites, but that sounds pretty good. A blog updatable by multiple people would be handy.
And to think I still use notepad for my sites... someday I'll get with the times :)

Beek, you know way to much about web design to be a geologist...Just saying.

I started doing this today, so hopefully the rest of things can get moved over soon.

Once it looks better I'll set up a redirect on our UND address if everyone's okay with that.
What this means is that anyone who knows the password can edit the site rather than having a single designated webmaster (or mistress).

Might be good to have a page on the site about courtesy and rules of the road. I keep seeing people riding pell-mell through throngs of pedestrians and forcing people out of the way. We should be leaders on campus when it comes to stuff like this.

Added a page for local rides with some of ours from MapMyRide: https://sites.google.com/site/cycleund/rides-in-grand-forks

Moved over the rest of what I thought needed moving and set up a redirect from the old site to the new one. The only thing I haven't moved is the "Photos" page; all the galleries are still set up like they were before. It's up to you guys to figure out how you want to have photos in the future I guess. I can explain how to get rid of that link if anyone has a better idea.
