(It should be already) The first fluid trainer is by ascent @ $119. If you're ready to purchase... you can use coupon code "single15" until the 18th for 15% off one item or w255 through the 22nd for 10% off your entire order.
As far as trainers go though... I'm not convinced that some are better than others as far as the technology. Some do have a better mechanism for "hooking them up" ask Yost... his worked great once you got it setup (20 mins of fighting).
As far as the different techs. I have a mag AND a fluid. Both are as quiet as a trainer will get. Both do exactly what they should do. The fluid has a little bit better feel, but it shouldn't matter how they "feel" really because you just need resistance. The bike should provide the feel.
Magnets of course work using gout. And as per the laws of physics... the hotter a magnet is the less gout it is able to produce. Thus... in THEORY a magnetic trainer loses efficiency as you use it. But does anyone not obsessed with physics really care? Furthermore does anyone not obsessed with physics wish that they would stop breaking magnets on the super particle accelerator so we can see what happens!!!!!!!!
Stupid absolute zero!
Anyways... coupons for the major cycling retailers can ALWAYS be found here:
