Title: The Official For Sale Thread. coz official.
Post by: Toaster on November 18, 2008, 07:27:40 PM
Hey everybody, I have some bike stuff that I am going to sell off for super cheap. Most of it is stuff that I have bought as after market parts for my bike, but am switching in order to get a better fit. Most of it is stuff that I would keep in order to use it in the future, but I need to raise some money to purchase new parts. I'll list the stuff and how much I want for it. If your interested, shoot me a PM or post here and let me know.

Deda Newton 46cm (44cm when measured center to center) Handlebars. These as far as I'm concerned are the sweetest bars on the market (some of the lightest that you can buy). They have anatomic drops and a 31.8 (deda calls it a 31.7) clamp diameter. I would like $75 for them, technically I can't tell you what I payed for them (because I work at SBS) but it was more than $75.

Race Face Cadence 44cm (center to center) handlebar. Anatomic drop, 31.8 clamp. These were the original bars on my Giant TCR, a nice alloy bar, but heavier than the Newton bar that I replaced it with. $15

I would be keeping both of these, as I think the newton's are the best out there, and I was going to put the Race face bars on a cross bike, but I decided that 42cm bars would be more appropriate for my shoulder width.

Fizik Aliante saddle. (used, but not crappy) $5. Some swear by the shape of the Aliante (andy hampsten for one, if you don't know who he is, you shold look him up) however the shape isn't really working out for me, I think I need to switch to something flatter.

let me know if you guys are interested (or if anybody has any 42cm bars laying around that they want to sell)

hey fellow cyclists! i have few parts for sale

1. Brand new never used Sram Force front derailleur, clamp on 31.8 mm- $40 . Will wait a week before put it on e-bay

2. Shimano Ultegra 6500/105 5500, 9 speed triple group. The front and rear derailleur are Ultegra, and brake calipers, shifters, crank, bottom bracket, and cassette are 105. Rear derailleur is scratched from a small crash but works perfectly. Also shifters got scratched up during that crash, but again they work perfectly. Brake calipers and crank are in perfect mechanical condition. There are slight rub spots on the crank from regular use. Brake calipers are like new.Bottom bracket is smooth like a baby butt  :P. This entire set has about 2000 miles on it. Not much for Shimano components. There is lots of life left on the group. If you are thinking about upgrading your bike for a little money or want to build cross bike, or simply use it on your rainy-day bike this is the deal. I will ask $350 for it. I'm going to wait a week before I put it on e-bay. If you are interested please let me know and I can give you more details if you want.

3. Profile Design Aero bars clamp on. i used them on my trek road bike when  I raced TT or triathlons but last summer I got lucky enough to buy a TT bike, so I don't need them. They are very light for aeor bars, only about 350g! I will sell them for about $30 or BO . Will wait a week before  I put it on e-bay.

Please let me know or lose a good deal!!

Guys, I have a pair of blue/silver adidas cycling shoes for sale, size 10, with three velcro (is this how you spell it?) straps . I rode half a season with them. My foot is very wide and i did not take that into account when I bought them. They fit really nice, stay on the hill and are light and stiff. If you want a picture of them let me know or just get a hold of me. I always wear socks, so they are clean. They have couple scratches form one crash, but it's really nothing significant. I paid $70 on sale for them. Would like to get probably about $30 for them. Let me know if you need more details.

Anybody need a frame to build up a beater single speed MTB? I have a Giant Acapulco frame and fork that I bought out of the basement at One on One intending to build it up. Then I didn't use it after I got that Trek from UPD last year. If anybody wants it, I would only want $10 for it, which is what I paid at One on One. Frame, fork, headset, bottom bracket w/spindle.

If you need other parts for it I might have some stuff that I could give you out of my parts box (stem, handlebar, crappy multi-speed crank that would work fine for SS, who knows what else).
Title: WHEEL SALE!
Post by: Sal Atticum on May 12, 2009, 08:37:42 PM
Somehow I've accumulated more wheels than I have need of.  They are in varying condition.  I'll part with them for $5 apiece.
These are NOT name-brand, but are good for beaters.

The selection:
[1] front 26" MTB wheel
[3] rear 26" MTB wheels ([2] 6-speed cogsets (one missing a spoke), [1] 5-speed)
[3] front 27" road wheels ([1] missing axle)
[3] rear 27" road wheels (all with 5-speed cogsets)

[2] 27x1.25" tires (look okay to me)

You can have your pick of the best.

I also have some miscellaneous parts that I may get posted up later.

Yes, i still have them, what were you looking to spend, i paid about 400$ dollars for them on ebay new. Great shoe, just to large for my foot, i did replace a buckle that broke and they show obvious signs of use. I have everything they came with manuals, tools, etc.

damn thats a lot of money for shoes... might be out of my league, i may end up changing my mind when i get to GFK.. i guess i'm looking for shoes to be below 150 if anyone has them
Title: Re: Bike parts for sale
Post by: Casey on August 11, 2009, 07:08:54 PM
I could probably part with them for that price range, they don't fit me and they are used so basically the only thing i was considering keeping them for was parts for my new shoes, but i don't intend on braking any, and they sell replacement parts online.

As it's that time of year where people are looking to build up winter bikes, I just wanted to remind you all of my giant acapulco frameset that I want to get rid of. Frame, forks, headset, and BB for $10 (what I paid for it at one on one bikes down in Minnecrapolis). Has nice long semi horizontal dropouts that would be awesome for ss or fixed. 57cm top tube, canti mounts. Free parts available to anybody who wants to build it up (although most of my parts are in minneap, so you would have to give me a list and I could see what I have next time I go down).

This frame fits you?  Is there a photo available?
Title: Re: Bike parts for sale
Post by: Toaster on October 15, 2009, 09:53:50 AM
The frame would be a little small for me (just slightly). I don't have time to take a photo right now (maybe this evening), but I can tell you that it's black, and you would more than likely want to add a coat of rattle can something or other in order to seal it up and make it look decent.

hey! I will be selling my blue Trek TCT 5000 carbon frame(58cm)+fork+carbon seat post+stem (110mm)+handle bar. Those who know me, know that the bike is in great condition and that I was babying it.  If you are interested, send me a personal message and we can get together or something. If not, you will see it on e-bay in about week and a half or so. Thanks!

you should hook up the sand man with that frame, what do you think will be a general price for it all?
Title: Re: Bike parts for sale
Post by: Mario on October 16, 2009, 01:19:37 PM
I should probably talk to him.  I'm not sure what his financial situation looks like, and the problem is that I need to recover as much money form it as possible to pay for my new frame. I'm not saying I will not give him a deal, but I simply cannot afford to give him a really good deal, you know? I'm looking at getting somewhere between $400-$500.

Post by: Toaster on October 16, 2009, 10:24:54 PM
Sounds good beak, let me know when a good time would be to come and drop it off, and let me know what other parts you need for it, I might have stuff just laying around (here or in minneapp) that I can just give you.

In other news, I also have a crankset that I want to get rid of, standard yost pricing ($10). Its a "sakae SX", made in japan, 170mm arms, square taper, tripple, 110mm bcd, 52,46,28, and the granny gear is a biopace copy (meaning it's kind of elliptical shaped). That being said, it would be really good for single or fixed, as all the chain rings come off (they are not an integral part of the arms) and the granny gear uses spacers (in other words, when you take it off you won't have the little bolt nubs left over, so it won't look crappy). The 52 ring is pretty worn, the 46 is in good shape, as is the 28 (but why would you use that one anyway?).
Title: Re: Bike parts for sale
Post by: Sal Atticum on October 18, 2009, 09:47:13 PM
Why is only the granny gear biopace?  That doesn't quite make sense to me.

If you want to drop off, I'll be in my office all day tomorrow except probably 10-11 and 3-4 and all day Tuesday.  I can also come pick it up, it's not a big deal.  As far as parts go I'd need just about everything (which is why I said it might take me a while to build); I'm sure I can drop you a couple bucks so you aren't just giving me stuff though.
Title: Re: Bike parts for sale
Post by: Plantains on October 18, 2009, 10:19:39 PM
it was common to only biopace grannies because in the gg you're cadence is so high that your legs have trouble maintaining even power output even if you're a good cyclist. So, biopace on the gg is designed to help this.

I'm curious if this is the same kid who came into the shop asking us to sell his TCR 2 on consignment. If it is, and anybody is interested, we have it down at the shop if you wanted to look at it (unless he came and got it). Overall a really awesome bike except for the wheels, which are really lame, and in my opinion would have to be replaced right away.

I've got this beast of a bike that I never use.  Originally it was meant as a spare bike in case any newbies wanted to come play bike polo with us at the park a year ago.  Never used it, put a bunch of money into it.  It's a Schwinn Sidewinder, Blue...  I'd say late 90's to early 2000's vintage.  New rear wheel with SS spacer kit, brand new Brake lever and brake cables/housing.  Because it was meant to be a bike for newbies to polo, it's one lever (currently on the left) that actuates both brakes.  I'd like $80, but if you're interested, let me know.  I'm really willing to deal on this one.  It's taking up too much garage space.

(FYI -- I've got almost $100 into this one.)

I think he originally said they were 110.

But... pro tip: you can't use biopace rings on a fixed gear. (that is if that 40 was a biopace as well)

Title: Re: The Official For Sale Thread. coz official.
Post by: Toaster on November 20, 2009, 09:37:22 AM
no the 40 is normal.

and... sheldon brown says you can use bio-pace on a fixed gear. If you think about it, it makes sense that it should work. But I have never tried it, and it seems like it would be silly to do so.
Title: Re: The Official For Sale Thread. coz official.
Post by: Plantains on November 20, 2009, 10:39:26 AM
I was thinking about it... realistically speaking, many track racers leave their chains slack to allow for less friction through the system. It is worth noting though that track racers are generally only going forward and their races are short lived. Dropping a chain on the street could be more dangerous... note... could.

But I think rather than dropping the chain (since biopace obviously is designed in a way to NOT drop the chain) the bigger concern would be trackstanding or using the rear to slow. In some places there would be more slack than in others...

hmm...
Title: Re: The Official For Sale Thread. coz official.
Post by: Toaster on November 20, 2009, 10:48:30 AM
I think that there would be more slack in some places than others. But I think that this would be caused by things like not have a perfectly shaped chainring, or not having the chainring perfectly centered on the spider. I think if all of the mechanical aspects of the setup were perfect, you would maintain a constant chain tension.

P.S. I am not defending the merits of biopace in any way. Biopace sucks.

Yo, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, been super busy.

Still have the crank, although I think that MBK was interested, and I don't want to step on his toes so you'll have to work it out with him as to who has divine right to it (I recommend a "roe sham beau").

Yo dudes, I've been taking mental inventory of stuff that I have and would be able to part with, and I had a thought.

If anybody needs a car stereo for their bike (chase was that your portable sound system at the cx race or was that ted's?) I have a couple laying around. One of them is from my old Mercury Topaz (Car is crashed but the stereo still works!!) it's an alpine something or other cd/am/fm (does not read mp3 files), this one is missing the metal part that it is supposed to slide into because I didn't think to take it out before the car went to the junk yard. Standard Yost Pricing on this one ($10).

The other one is a pioneer something or other that Best Buy gave me as a replacement when they destroyed the stock deck on my VW. don't think this one reads mp3's either. Has the metal piece to actually mount it in a car. Double standard Yost pricing ($20).

Beek I think you need one of these for the pedal car.

edit: oops, fogot to put a t on the end of "thought"

anybody have a chrome colored 24 mm seat post, or a chrome colored 21.1 quill stem for an older touring bike? :P
Title: Re: The Official For Sale Thread. coz official.
Post by: Plantains on January 24, 2010, 07:53:24 PM
Nic, with a 21.1 steerer tube, you're much better off just getting a new used fork with a more standard inside diameter. The bike will be using the "normal" 1" headtube so as long as you find another threaded fork that has the right steerer tube length you should be good to go. If you REALLY wanted to "do it right" you could find out if your headset is ISO or JIS and get a fork/headset that would fit appropriately, but the difference IIRC is only 27.0 vs. 26.8 and either really works just fine (I have one of each and have them running opposite for winter).

If someone tells you to ream your headtube out to solve this problem, don't listen.

Also, I fathom you're probably trying to build on a budget and getting a new (used) fork probably is an expense you hadn't anticipated, but realistically you're going to spend more money trying to source fringe parts for a crappy frame. Your best bet is of course to find a more suitable frameset (perhaps easier said than done). Either way, it's worth considering that even if you found parts, they'll most likely be pretty low end.

I've actually found a pretty good seat post on ebay, but it's gonna be a few bucks. For now I guess I'll use the original Sakae stem that came with the bike even though it's a little pitted and still has some green crap on it. Both parts are for the swamp bike that got pulled out of the Coolie. I've finally gotten it back from being sand blasted and clear coated and it looks pretty sweet with all chrome parts. Unfortunately, I threw away the seat tube because the clamp at the top was completely screwed so now I'm left looking for a new one.

Oh yeah well you don't want one of those garbage 2-piece posts anyways. I forgot you had it blasted and painted... obv forget getting a new frame. For now at least.

Still though, you can find urself a new fork (chrome even) for pretty cheap, then you could find some sweet quill stem.

FREE... If anybody wants a worn out rear studded 700x35 tire let me know. Studs are pretty much shot, but it would be better than riding around with a normal tire (at least the rubber compound is meant for snow and ice).

First up is a Motobecane PhantomCross Uno. The bike has been used for 2 seasons only, and as the name suggests, it is a single speed cross bike. It's got a fairly solid cartridge bearing 32 spoke wheelset that have held up very well through the winter. It's a 60 or 58cm, i'm 6'1" and it fits me very well. The rear wheel is flip flop, and comes with a fixed cog and a freewheel. The bike is steel, and white with red decals I was too lazy to heatgun off. I originally paid $400 and am asking $200 being that when I clean it and tune it up just a bit, it's in new condition again.

Second is a no name aluminum 58cm frame fixie. It's got a flip flop and deep v's. You may have seen the bike around town, I'm the d-bag with a key lime green rear wheel and powder blue front. The bike needs a bearing cone replaced or lightly hammered on the rear wheel (no race damage, just the metal outer cap) so you guessed it, loose ball hubs. I'm throwing in a pair of quick attach fenders specifically for fixies. The bike comes with worn kenda 700 x 25c wheels that roll great, and I have a set of 700 x 23's I'll throw in with it. I'm asking $100 for it, was originally $300 or so. If you want to look like a hipster douche, this bike is so for you.

Third, and by far the saddest. My 98 GT Ricochet mountain bike. It's got a 7speed XT/LX drivetrain with trigger shifters (none of that sram twist crap) avid levers, and a front avid mechanical disc break. I replaced the stock (and horrible) rock shox indy fork with a marzzochi EXR oil fork that makes rocky descents a breeze. The rear is a V brake because the frame lacks a disc mount. I've got a pair of ritchey excaVaders on it currently and Kona Jackshit grips. I also have a specialized phenom 143 saddle on the bike puchased last season that has seen less than 400 miles. I'm ignoring the key feature of this bike though, the GT Ricochet frame. This thing is indestructable, that's the main reason it makes me sad to see it go. I know it's not nearly as light as "modern" frames, but for my size, the weight is not an issue. I am asking $300 for this bike. The saddle alone retails for $90+, so you are getting a deal on a real piece of history here. (I can't remember the frame measurements, but I'm 6'1" and it's comfy for me)

Not sure on other fender sources. I checked Rivendell's site and all they had were SKS fenders.

There are lots of places to get fenders. Emmy (I) have some SKS ones and while they're nice... I think they're poorly designed. I also have some planet bike ones which I think are awesome.

I recommend checking out biketiresdirect I think they had the best prices last time around?

Sorry, I was in a rush.  What I meant was to ask if people would be better-able to browse what people want to buy or have to sell if we had a child board just for buying and selling things, where everyone could post each thing in a new thread (and deal with questions and such there).  It seems like we've had enough activity in this thread lately to warrant something like that.

Hello all, just a note:  Nic, if you haven't gotten those fenders yet, i strongly recommend the cascadia by planet bike.  Much like the link that gaurdrail posted.  They are available in the 700c size even though the link is for 26's.  They're easy to deal with and are a very durable full coverage fender.  It is possible that I'm way too late for this, but just figured I'd make a note.

I've split the most recent postings up into individual threads.  I think it will help people keep track of everything being bought and sold.  If I'm wrong, we can change it back.

You can still look through this topic--who knows what has and hasn't been sold yet?
