So who stole the ATM?

ATM stolen from UND's Twamley Hall
By Joseph Marks , Herald Staff Writer
Published Friday, December 07, 2007
An ATM machine was stolen from the first floor of UND's Twamley Hall, likely on Sunday night or Monday morning, officials said.

The ATM probably was owned by Bremer Bank and was located in an alcove near the mail room on the building's first floor, UND Spokesman Peter Johnson said today.

Twamley Hall is UND's main administrative building, housing the office of the president, vice presidents, and most administrative services.

Johnson said he does not know who first reported the theft to police or whether the theft was immediately noticed Monday morning.

UND Police immediately turned the investigation over to the Grand Forks branch of the Minneapolis FBI office because ATM money is insured by the federal government, UND Police Captain Wayne Onger said.

A call to FBI Special Agent Paul McCabe, the bureau's Minneapolis communications officer, was not immediately returned this afternoon.

At the very least you need several people and a truck to haul it off... it's not like stealing an ATM is a one man operation...

I'm wondering if this isn't just some paperwork mixup, although that wouldn't be nearly as exciting.

There must be more accessible ATMs to steal on campus, let alone throughout the town.  Maybe it was an inside job . . . maybe it's the Twamley staff taking what's theirs from the school, maybe they'll steal from UND and give to the poor . . .  I'm just rambling now, of course.  Fun how the FBI is involved though.

(Good to see you around again, SNS!)

Someone must have been short of money at finals time.
Yeah those things are not probably easy to steal and probably need a couple to take it with them.
I know there have a been a few stolen in the area. Langdon and GF, now UND.
