I was at the Winterfest meeting last night and they were talking about a climbing wall (if anyone wanted to run such a thing), but now I'm curious how many ice climbers are in town and if such a thing would be a viable activity, as a demonstration or even for people to try (although I know it's equipment-heavy). Hanging a hose off a telephone pole for a week beforehand or something.

Jim Grijalva has done that at his farm about 20mi. out of town in the past. I think there would be a sizable group who would like to try (including myself) and an even larger group who would check it out.

I would definately like to check that, if it ever stops raining

Would Jim Grijalva be interested in doing something like that downtown for Winterfest? Keep in mind that I'm not the person to contact to talk about arranging something, that would be Kim Greendahl ([email protected]).

I'm on it like stink on rice.

Chase passed along this thread, and asked if I might consider talking with Kim Greendahl about putting up an ice wall for Winterfest. I'll check it out. Several climbers in town have long fantasized about pumping river water up to the top of the round RR stanchion just downstream from the DeMers bridge over the Red. I doubt the cities/RR will go that far, but you never know. I also plan to make an ice wall on my farm in Larimore once the temps drop for the winter. Friends of NHRG are generally welcomed.

NHRG and the YogaSlackers would be happy to provide the Gear and Personal to pull this off.
