This is not so much a call to start planning as a notification that Andy Magness and Ted have set the date for the race.  If you would like to be involved in the planning process, post up here and get in touch with them.

The decision/discussion on the table right now is whether to have this be USA Cycling sanctioned.  It can be done cheaply and with minimal extra work and get us a bunch more exposure, but if there are reasons not to do this, please explain.

The only reason I'd say not to would be that most if not all MTB races are not usac. Though USAC is working hard to change this.

I would also contact IMBA about it.

I am very much for expanding USAC races in the area. With MTB I am only "for" expanding races in the area tho. There's less of a reason to do it because of "everyone else" doing it... and such. Though... there may be a way to incorporate a collegiate event into this if the cards get played right. But running a 12hr event with USAC is probably going to get expensive.

I don't know what they're planning on charging, and I don't know what the entry fees are/were like for his adventure races, but I know that the 24hrs of adrenaline when I did it was around $5-600 per team. It was between $80/$120 per rider iirc.

Even though the club is not officially hosting this event, would anyone be interested in organizing homestays for the weekend for any collegiate compatriots who are coming up?  I know U of M is sending some people.

Next trail day is October 1st (this Saturday).  We'll be building a bridge over the river.

Also, registration is going to go up after October 7th:
Quote
Sept 16th update:  Word is that skeleton armies from throughout the state and beyond are organizing themselves in preparation for the event, but very few have been confident enough to make their ambitions of total course domination official. If you are part of one of those armies don't wait too long to register.....after October 7th, entry for any and all (zombie racers included) will cost an extra pound of flesh ($10).
You'll get a bunch of great schwag and we're working on some great prizes, so sign up now--it will be worth it.
