Meeting for Sport/Recreation Management Major
« on: April 15, 2006, 11:22:16 PM »
Hey, if anyone is interested in going into sport or recreation management, there is going to be a meeting on Monday, April 24 to discuss the new majors and requirements.  If anyone is interested in these majors (the sport management is new) this would be a good meeting to attend.  Post a reply if you have any questions and I can answer them. :D

Recreation management is a current major at NDSU that emphasizes preparation for careers in leisure service professions and related human services.  Careers in this field include: environmental and outdoor recreation, tourism and resort management, commercial recreation, sports and fitness management, and park management and municipal recreation.

Recently, it was decided to add another program that was more focused on the sport part of this major.  Sport management will be a new major starting next fall.  The curriculum is not fully established yet, and the upcoming meeting will be discussing the new program in addition to changes in the old one, so I would encourage anyone interested to attend.

It is kinda hard to explain. For a better description, check out: http://www.ndsu.edu/ndsu/academic/factsheets/hde/recman.shtml.  They do a better job explaining it that I do.
