Don Hedger, chief executive officer of Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing in Killdeer, N.D., also will speak on behalf of regional manufacturers.“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to get a head start on completing their engineering degree at NDSU in computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering,” said Dr. Rich Brauhn, DSU vice president for academic affairs. “The students will also have the opportunity to complete internships with local businesses and industries.”The Collaborative Engineering Program provides students in western North Dakota and parts of Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota access to engineering programs and is expected to have a significant and long-term impact on the economic prosperity of the area. The collaboration is the result of several meetings that have taken place between DSU, NDSU and area education and business leaders during the past year.“This partnership with NDSU signals our desire to collaborate to benefit both our students and our state,” said DSU President Richard McCallum. “It will prepare our young people to graduate with and engineering degree, thus helping to fill the workforce needs that have been created by the energy and manufacturing industries in North Dakota.”8/15/2008 8:34:35 AM
