Just a thought that maybe we could help out with this.

The cub scouts also have a bicycling belt loop. This would be simple to do...
Basically,
1. Contact local troop leader.
2. Mention that we hold instructional rides open to the community.
3. Suggest that if no scouts are currently interested in the cycling badges due to the difficulty of getting resources, that we would be willing to conduct a seminar on how to accomplish the badges properly (we'd need their literature of course).
4. Suggest that we would be willing to conduct instructional rides to assist the scouts in how to properly execute all of the riding nonsense (again, in compliance with their literature)
5. ???
6. Profit?

hey I had that belt loop AND the merit badge!

I don't remember this belt loop thing at all from cub scouts. All we had were beads and arrow points :(

If step 5 =??? and step 6 =Profit, then by default step 4 must = "collect underpants"

Hi all,
For what it's worth, here are the actual requirements for these awards:
Cub Scout Cycling Belt Loop and Pin (1st-5th graders)

The belt loop is easy...I did it with my son in less than 10 minutes. The pin takes a bit more work, but not much.
Boy Scout Cycling Merit Badge (6th-12th graders)

They have a pamphlet that defines how all these requirement are to be met. Pamphlets are available at Gerrell's for a few $$. The merit badge requires a bit more work, but is still easily achieved. My son, now a 6th grader, dropped scouting so we never got the chance to work on this one...(sigh)
