Indeed it did.

I just wish people would find ways to figure things out without resorting to government.  It's like running to mommy.

"but mommy, he blew smoke in my face!!!1"

It's funny because girls are hot, and then they light a cigarette, and then they aren't hot anymore.  Maybe this will lead to more hot girls on campus except that they picked a time of year when everyone is bundled up anyway.

On the subject of hot girls, oh yeah ugg boots and short skirts!

Is the most foolish thing on earth, especially in North Dakota.  It’s hard leaving a coast, where stupid fads like that have been played out, and coming to NoDak for college just in time for absurd stuff like that to arrive.  To all you idiots from Fargo with your Surf Culture shirts, and Hurley hats, you are not surfers, you simply watch too much Laguna Beach, and you are dumb.

Do what I do - get over it and move along.  When I don't want to get smoke in my face I just don't go where there is smoke.  I might occasionally not be able to plan it away and I brush it aside as I do other minor inconvinences.

As Paul Simon said, don't worry - be happy.

There is a slight problem though, I have a first floor dorm room. People tend to smoke outside the window, and the windows don't seal well enough to not have the smoke come in, I am highly allergic to the smoke, needless to say, its a bad deal all around.

That sucks.

Personally I see no reason that I should have to avoid the smoke.  Why should I have to go out of my way?

I am all for banning it, then again I am looking at a cost/benefit analysis.  I am looking at what I think would be the best for the most people.

You can't think like that!  That way lies madness!  If we work out "best for most people" no more good food, no more dangerous sports, no more driving no more freedom.

How did you come to those conclusions?

It is best for most people coupled with a cost/benefit analysis.

Why don't we just handle the actual problems here.  Smoking is not the problem - the use of it without regard to surroundings is.  Now, assuming this is a problem on campus (and I have yet to contact it as a problem) it should be handled on those grounds.

Outlawing this is as absurd as outlawing soft drinks on campus, or saturated fats.  It's idiotic.

What about outlawing cocaine or PCP or alcohol?

I personally don't care what people do - the bad effects of it are already outlawed (killing, abuse, etc).  If you outlaw cocaine or marijuana you need to outlaw alcohol.

I don't feel it works to outlaw such things.

It is best for most people coupled with a cost/benefit analysis.

Not eating cheeseburgers would help keep the average cholesterol in the US down, which would put less stress on the health care system, which would mean fewer hospitals, which would mean less taxpayer money going to build things, which would be better for all of us.  We should outlaw cheeseburgers!

Once you jump to the conclusion that you have the idea that is "the best for everyone," you have to start worrying about all the other things that could happen if someone else decides they know what's best for you.

Cheesburgers are not necissarily bad for you, moderation is the key... do you have proof for your claims?

If cheese burgers affected me in such a negative way as second hand smoke does than I would worry. Second hand smoke is a leading cause of health problems.

Wouldn't moderation of smoking be a good thing too?  Why don't we just make it so cigarettes have to be shorter thana  certain length?  That would really screw with people, but it might help them quit.

It's worse than ever, in my opinion.  Now we get cigarette butts all over the ground all over campus, and people still light them before they even get out the door.
JUST EXTRA POLISH. I DO SOME WORK WITH EXCELL SO I KEEP THE CAPS LOCK ON :-P
