Title: Western ND/SD cycling advice?
Post by: Sal Atticum on June 18, 2010, 12:29:48 PM
The cycling club just received this question in an email:
Quote
I am planning a bike trip to Roosevelt National Park (north and south units) and on to Mt Rushmore. Is highway 85 a good route for biking or should we use 22 and 79.

Does anyone have any advice I can send back?  It's been a few years since I've been on 85.

Well... I probably wouldn't bike on a highway because what the heck would be the fun in that?

Google maps has the new bike feature, I'd punch that in and see what the route looked like. The only person that might know what's up is Chad, or maybe the advisors?

But if homeboy's riding for the scenery, I'd look for alternate routes?

Maybe link him into this thread and we can chat with him directly? It'd be nice to see some pics, get updates, ride reports and stuff?

Highway 85 north of Belfield is under construction.  I wouldn't recommend it.
The road loop through the South Unit is awesome and a day pass is $5 for a bike.

Cheers, Mike
