I figure I will introduce myself, finally, to everyone who doesn't know who I am!
I wish more people would do this--for one it gets more posts (which I like), but it also gets people to know one another better, hopefully.
I'm not from North Dakota originally (let's hear what people have to say to that--anyone else 'not from around here?'), but I came here (UND) last Spring semester (2006) to start my Master's in Geology. My focus is in paleontology, and even though it doesn't look like I'll be working with dinosaurs any time soon, it's still fun for the most part. Grad school wasn't quite what I expected--I'm not sure whether to blame myself for my misconception, or UND for being weird.
Anyway, what I am interested in (outside of paleontology) is helping people communicate, which is why I wanted to start a forum for UND students. pmp6nl saw the rudimentary site I set up, offered to help, and has been regretting the decision ever since. Now we've combined my message board (Dakota Roar) and his (at ndbison.com) to form Campus Dakota, and I think it's a good step.
I know there is a lot of anymousity between UND and NDSU for the longtime sports rivalry--and I know that doesn't have to die just because we don't compete anymore! Really, I'm just making sure you're reading--I have no problem with NDSU, and I hope that we can all get along in peace and harmony, etc. etc.
Just a word of warning about me: I post in another forum that you have to be very strongminded and opinionated to get along with people in. So my posting style may come off as inflammatory or rude sometimes. If this happens, let me know and I'll try to back down. Your other alternative is to get going with some good debate, some good insults, and see where we end up. I'll accept either way
