SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE RIDES!!! EVERY SUNDAY AT 10AM, MEET BEHIND SBS
Yo kids, if you wanna get your ride and your drink on (coffee that is) hit up our Sunday morning coffee rides, they leave from behind the Ski and Bike Shop at 10AM every Sunday morning, rain or shine, cold or really cold. Don't know where Ski and Bike is? Have you been living under a rock or something? the shop is at 1711 S. Washington St. right between blockbuster and the dollar store. This is a moderate paced social ride with a no drop policy. Rides will be around 3 to 5 miles (not counting your ride to the shop) Until the weather gets nicer. Fat tires and low gears are recommended for snowy conditions. The ride will end at Dakota Harvest Bakery so be sure to bring a lock if you plan on heading in for coffee and confections. The ride is self supported, so bring what you think you need to fix your bike if it breaks. If you roll on 700c's I might have a tube that you can borrow, otherwise you're outta luck. See you there.
-
The morning ride was excellent. Those who couldn't make it... you missed a classic guardrail laying the fixed gear down in front of a pickup truck. Nice work front TIRE!
-
I'm sorry I missed it, the time change threw me for a loop and I woke up around 10:15. Blech.
-
Hahahaha! "Allegedly" :-P
Its weekly... We'll see you sometime Im sure.
-
There is a group ride today. 3/19 leaving from the Union at 5:30pm SHARP. (Get there earlier)
This is officially a "No Drop" ride. You will not be left behind.

-
I think Thursdays group ride may have somehow fallen through? Anyone plans on going... post here or call me.

Looking for a Training Ride or even a No Drop Ride, or at least people to ride with. I can ride anytime Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. pretty open. leaving from campus works best but Ski and Bike shop works for me
-
Hey Felt. I sent you a PM with details. If you read through this thread you'll have an idea of when rides are going out.
Welcome aboard!
-
As of right now the Sunday morning coffee ride will be happening.
Who: All riders this is a FUN ride.
What: All bikes. (Most of us will probably be on our commuters)
Where: Behind SBS
When: As of right now 10am (does anyone have a time preference? This week MAY be able to be flexible because "technically" none of us have to work cuz we all should be in KS)
Why: Why the heck not?
Questions... ask. Suggestions for times? Post up.
-
Yo, everybody needs to make it out to the ride this Sunday morning. As always we will be meeting behind Ski and Bike at 10AM. If you're not there, then there must be something wrong with you. For serious dudes, we're not racing, so lets at least go wreak some bicycle havoc around Grand Forks. I expect excuses to be posted if you're not going to show up, and they better be good.
-
Who: Everyone.
What: Fun Ride downtown.
Where: Behind Ski Bike Shop. Riding to (most likely) Dakota Harvest.
When: 10am.
Why: As Toaster has stated... if you aren't making this ride, something is wrong with you.
-
My excuse is that I was out late last night and I left my article to write again.
I should be able to go out sometime today though, with any luck.
-
I've got church
-
Yo, are we doing a no drop today at 5:30?
-
I will be riding with you guys today. looking for training so the more work the better. its still 5:30 at the union right?
-
Today is a no-drop ride.
Nothing has changed.
Pace will be comfortable.
5:30 at the Union.

This week isn't looking especially great for wx.
As for the group ride this evening Monday (4/21). There is a cold front pushing through. Expect some good T-storms early afternoon. Followed by temps into the low 30's.
I'll keep you updated on the wx. If its crappy outside... I won't be riding (no need to)... if others are going to go and want to carry the group ride, feel free to post up.
-
if people are riding i'll probably go. let me know
-
I think I will probably hit the trainer its supposed to be nicer tomorrow
-
I unfortunately have another engagement. I'm also still recovering a little from racing a 5K on Saturday, so it looks like no ride today.
-
Mario and I are going to abstain from riding today as well.
Tomorrow, however, we are going to try and hit up something a little longer at about 5:30.
-
how many miles are you going to do? if im invited I might try and make it. I really need to get my riding legs back.
let me know

Every rider is invited on every ride. This is the foundation of a club and a team co-existing. Everything in the group ride forum is designed to offer ride info.
Chad just forgot to post utilizing the format. Since we're on page 3... I'll refresh peoples memory.

What he means is: If the weather is nasty, don't come because no one will be there. Define nasty though?
It's just going to be windy and cold and REALLY cold. I think you'll be free of precipitation though.
-
Precipitation is what I consider nasty, I know it's cold, but we've ridden in colder weather.
-
I think I take that back.It is not only cold but it is windy 25-31mph!I will pass todays ride and focus on my classes.Peace out!
-
Anyone up for group Turtle River trail rides? I'm thinking weekly trips (probably Sunday late afternoons or early evenings). I have enough room on my rack for two other bikes otherwise you'd need your own transportation.
-
im in...

see ya there mario ;)

Not sure if I'll make the group ride today, need to check my schedule at the shop. I'll be there if I can
Totally down for rides at TR. Although I think that traditionally the guys from SBS ride on Saturday evenings. I know that last year there was a bit of dissatisfaction when we tried to organize Sunday evening TR rides instead of Saturday. You might want to check with the guys at SBS about what they will be doing for their TR rides this year (I haven't really heard much talk around the shop as of yet). Keep us informed though, I can't wait to hit the trails!
-
You gotta love those cheery rides at 48 degrees (8 degrees C). I'll try to be there, but we'll see what comes up.
-
Just found out I have to work, sorry guys. Stay warm.
-
Sorry it's a bit short notice, but I was thinking maybe a fun-er ride today.
Location: Memorial Union.
Time: 5:30pm
Ride: Greenway, downtown, wherever
Bike rec: Fixie, MTB, single speed...whatever you've got.
Let me know what you think!
-
Ooo, I'm interested!
-
??? I think to avoid trying to figure out what we are doing with t minus two minutes until ride time I am gonna do my own thing...
-
alright, I'm going to give it a go. first ride for the "noob". I'll be there at 5:30.
-
Yeah squad... lets not play the change of plans game 2 hours before we leave. Some people plan for this ride all day long and it gets really frustrating when a ride that has been going out consistently on a monday and has been planned gets changed.
The "official" no drop ride will be in effect. If other peeps want to do other things thats totally fine, but I just didn't want people to think the plans have changed.
No drop
Leaving from the union at 5:30
Road bikes
helmets
etc
Dakota... we'll see you there (now u said u were going so u have to hahaha) :P
-
OR
Location: Memorial Union.
Time: 5:30pm
Ride: Greenway, downtown, wherever
Bike rec: Fixie, MTB, single speed...whatever you've got.
-
sick ride yesterday... just wanna thank all you guys who went, let me ride, gave me advice on proper technique, and introduced me into group riding!
-
For anyone coming to the meeting tomorrow night (at the Union, Memorial Room, 7-8pm.) be sure to bring your bikes! We'll be hitting up an evening fun ride around GF after the meeting. Maybe some parking ramps, skate parks... we'll see where we end up.
-
so do you guys do any other weekly rides other than the sunday morning and monday afternoon/evening ones?
-
Baderade... we do in fact roll lots of group rides.
Those are the only "official" scheduled ones so that people have something to expect. Now that the collegiate season is over, things will start to pick up and rides will go out more frequently.
If you're going for a ride and want some company... post one up. There is no "schedule" this is a free forum for people to post when and where they're going as they see fit. We simply try to provide structure.
-
Turtle River Ride!!!!!!!
When: Sunday at 5:30
Where: meet at the union, can drive out from there
How long: play it by ear, back by about 8:00?
Type: MTB
Why: because it is super cool
-
I'll more than likely be coming to the TR ride. however I might be a bit late because I have to work at SBS until 5:30. If anybody needs to get out there a bit later and needs a ride, I could maybe accommodate one more person in my car, but I don't have a rack or anything so it might be tight.
-
Do we need a helmet for the ride at 5:30 sunday cause i don't have a helmet up here?
-
Yes, helmets are a necessity at TR. Although you are free to do as you wish, the first time I went to TR I wondered if I should bring a helmet or not, I did thinking it was better to be safe than sorry. I was extremely happy that I brought one, as there were a few instances where I nearly bashed my head into a tree. I'm sure that somebody can lend you one, the only extra helmet that I have is my old BMX helmet, so I'll toss that in my car in case you need it. If somebody else has a helmet that they would be willing to volunteer, let us know.
Welcome to the boards sanders!
-
I have an extra helmet that I can lend. It's nice TREK helmet.I will pass it to Yost.
-
Sandman has been ghosting for awhile. We just finally got some more MTB involvement.
WOOOOO!
-
Tomorrow (5/4) - Minnesota loop

-

Thompson loop, maybe?
Let me know what you think!
-
Thursday Morning ride
Probably Merrifield (I have to be back before my parents get into town)
Leaving from the Union at 9am
-
The wednesday ride will probably be the last "full" ride of the year. Most of us are leaving at the end of this week. It would be totally awesome to have everyone out.
-
yo kids, what time is the Wed. ride going to be? I might actually be able to make it to this one!
-
5pm, Yoster.
-
how far will the ride be?
-
Around 30 miles or so.
-
sweet. I'll be there.
-

When: This Thursday at 7:00 pm
What: Just cruise around town on your mountain bike, cruiser, commuter, whatever.

I'll be there.
-
Rain or shine?
I'll be there.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This one is WAY better.
-
Which of these rides are still going through the summer? I'm at UND for the month and would love to have some people to ride with.

I know that Wednesday TT is on, Sunday afternoon MTB at Turtle River Park is on, Sunday morning coffee ride is on,Urban Assault is on, and other than that I'm not sure.Any others I missed??
-
No. But Weezers Red Album is AMAZING!
-
Is anybody up for a Saturday morning group ride?
-
I am up for Sat. morning-what will you be riding?
-
I'd like to do 40-60mi, but I'm more than willing to do multiple loops if anyone wants a shorter ride
-
What time are you thinking about going?
-
How about 8 on saturday morning?
Does anyone still ride the TT when there's wind like this (30+mph?)
-
Just think of it as a hill course.
-
Hey Fish! I will be up for Saturday morning ride.I just think that at 8 it might be still pretty cold in GF.If you are willing to wait till 9 or 10 it would be good.If not, I will go at 8 anyway:-) I have enough warm cloths.
Regarding TT, I will still show up even if the wind is strong. The only time I will not show up is when it's raining.I cannot speak for others though.
-
I need to be on the road by 9, but I can get to a meeting place (i.e. the bike shop) anytime, just let me know.
-
9:00 am in front of the Memorial Union,is this OK??
-
Sounds great!
-
Mountain bike trip...
Anyone up for a weekend trip to MN to do some mt biking, beverage consumption, and camping? I'm thinking maybe Lutsen, maybe Afton Alps... unless others have ideas. Probably one of the first weekends in July? Let's get this going!
-
9am it is ,tomorrow, in fronmt of the Union.Everybody is welcome.the more people the better!!

I have no ideas where these places are, but I am definitely interested for some cycling once my thesis is done (about that time).
-
Wednesday night urban ride.
Meet downtown in at the market square at 8:00 pm.
Ride the bike of your choice.
If Brian shows up, watch him TRY to ride trials.

-
Urban ride tomorrow (Friday)
Meet downtown at the market square at 8:00 pm
Ride the bike of your choice.
-
Urban, as in hucking off of stuff right? I think beak might have thought more like an around town ride. Not that it wouldn't be fun to tag along. I guess I just wasn't sure weather or not beak is into jumping off of stuff, or crashing into said stuff.
-
TWO rides. Contain yourselves (all two of you that might show up).
1) Sounds like a hub ride Wednesday night (9:00 pm). If you're interested, show up at the back of the shop. last time we had people on fixies AND mt bikes. It was fun stuff.
2) Urban ride Friday night at 7 pm meet at the market square downtown... this should be clarified as "urban assault"... hucking off stuff, falling, crashing, not any of the mentioned, whatever you please.
-
I'm thinking a harder/faster Turtle River ride this weekend on Friday (with beers to follow) in addition to the Sunday night ride....
So here it is:
Friday at 6:00 pm. If you want to carpool give me a call 701-330-8944.
-
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to this one. I have a meeting at 7 and I promised to hang out with the lady afterward. That means the rest of ya's are going to have to pick up the slack so that mark has somebody to ride with. Mario, I know you like to go fast, so go tear it up.
-
I would probably come but Tiff and I planed camping this weekend long time ago.Sorry!
-
Yo allies in pedaling, not to take away from the Sunday evening rides out at TR, but there is going to be a unicycle rally this evening at the ralph at 6:00. You do not have to have any unicycle experience in order to attend. There will be plenty on uni's for people to try out, and there will be riders of all skill levels attending (I myself pretty much suck at riding uni, but after all crashing is fun right?). Hope to see some of you there!
-
Anybody interested in doing a hub ride tonight? It's been a couple of weeks since the last one, so I thought that people might be ready to exercise some demons. 9pm behind the shop for interested parties.
-
Anybody riding at TR tonight? Barring that, anyone up for an around town (not hucking off stuff) ride?
-
If anyone wants to carpool to TR tomorrow, give me a call. 330-8944. It has been two weeks, and two weeks too long.
-
Anybody up for a ride tomorrow morning? We could do a road ride, or we could go ride the 4-wheeler trails down by the river. I was thinking of meeting up around 8:30 or 9am. Let me know what you guys think.
-
I would be interested in a road ride if we met earlier, 7:30-8:00.
-
Ha, I was going to say I'm up for trails.
-
Alright, lets do a trail ride at 9:00. Meet at the union and we'll go from there.
-
I'm driving out to Turtle River this evening, if anyone wants a ride they can ring me up or post here (I'll leave about 5:30).
