We make that all the time, except we heat it in a fondue pot.  It is awesome.

I had this recipe recently at a party and it was awesome and really easy:

Easy Party Chip Dip

1 can of chili, no beans
1 box of Velveeta cheese

Cut the Velveeta into small, 1 inch cubes.  Place in bowl and pour can of chili over the top.  Microwave for 3-5 minutes, or until cheese is melted.  Remove from microwave and evenly mix.  Eat with tortilla chips. 

It is awesome.
