Question... since my retro-directe is sort of a post modern re-creation... I'm just casually looking at lights.

If I were to say acquire the housing for a fender mount light... something like this...

How easy would it be to convert it to use batteries (maybe instead of the generator) and run some sort of LED system? Maybe even an LED system that has different modes or something?

Might be easiest to replace everything inside with parts from an LED lamp and add an external switch (which would probably be the hard part).

Could make it flash and have a solid mode or flash mode :D
Life is complex.  It has a real part and an imaginary part.

Yeah that's what I meant. Run everything on the inside "modern" and just have the "retro" shell? Dave... what sort of costs would you fathom?

LED lamp:  4 or 5 bucks?
Other parts:  maybe 3 bucks

also I picked up a car stereo head unit the other day if anyone wants to make their own portable boom box, it is free to the 1st person. you just need speakers and a 12V battery
